Launching a scathing attack on the TMC government in West Bengal over the atrocities on women in Sandeshkhali, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said the entire country was seething with anger over the issue.
Modi also criticized INDIA’s opposition bloc for maintaining a stoic silence on the Sandeshkhali horrors.
“Amidst the successes, the whole country is watching the situation in Bengal today. The whole country is sad and angry after seeing what TMC which beats the drum of Maa, Mati and Manush did to Sandeshkhali sisters.
“What the TMC has done to the Sandeshkhali sisters is shameful,” he said at a rally in Arambagh in Hooghly district.
Accusing the TMC government of corruption in all areas, Prime Minister Modi said, “For INDI alliance leaders, supporting the politics of corruption and appeasement is paramount rather than standing by those tortured by the TMC in Sandeshkhali.
“TMC is confident that it has the support of minorities, but Muslims will also vote against the goonda raj TMC,” he said.
The Sandeshkhali region, located on the fringes of the Sunderbans, has been engulfed in turmoil for over a month over allegations of sexual abuse and land usurpation by TMC leader Shajahan Sheikh and his cohorts.
Sheikh was arrested by the police yesterday after being on the run for 55 days.
